We gave nurses a say in what they wear to work
Vision
A collaborative approach to nurse uniforms. Alexandra Workwear, a leading provider of workwear in the NHS, wanted to better understand the day-to-day issues and challenges for nurses and healthcare assistants in relation to workwear. They also wanted insight from a procurement and HR perspective.
Action
We developed and facilitated a nurse council, from trainee nurses and healthcare assistants to senior nurses and directors of nursing, operations and HR from a diverse range of trusts, for a facilitated discussion afternoon at the King’s Fund.
Change
Alexandra was given a colourful snapshot of practical and emotional issues that affect the wearing and procurement of workwear, leading to insight-led change in approach to designing new uniforms.
